This is my beautiful new forearm. All of my tattoos have Buddhist reference or meaning to them. The flowers (lillies and pertunias) are to remind me to try and keep a good nature towards others and the skull nestled in there is to remind me of my own mortality. On the reverse side is a beautiful sitting antelope amongst more flowers, which is a symbol of compassion in Buddhist philosophy. I designed all of my tattoos myself and chose to have them all in varying shades of red, just because I wanted to add my own uniqueness to the artwork as opposed to just going for black and grey. Although I drew all the work individually first, the flowers were tattooed freehand by a superb artist called John Darrington at Anatomy Tattoo Studios in Barnsley, UK. I hope to continue the sleeve with a peacock on my upper arm, surrounded by swirling clouds that will will carry around my arm and slightly on to my shoulder, all in shades of red again.
PS - To date, the inner crevice of my elbow is the single most painful place I have ever been tattooed. fucking. ouch.
